TOUR DESCRIPTION
After meeting the driver and the tour guide at your deck, we will drive you along the Coastline. You will stop in Ravello, a tiny village visited by Europe’s 19th century nobility during the Grand Tour including artists like Richard Wagner who composed the famous “Garden of Klingsor“.
Be enchanted by Villa Rufolo and its gardens, dating from the 11th century. and also mentioned by Boccaccio in his “Decamerone”.
You will visit Villa Cimbrone, built over the ruins of a roman villa and admire the superb coastline. Then Amalfi, the oldest of the four medieval sea-republics of Italy, with the visit of the cathedral of St. Andrew that holds the remains of the Apostle; its oriental façade encloses a lombard-romanique interior and bronze doors fused in Constantinople in 1067.
Along the Coast you will enjoy the breath-taking view and admire Capri Island. Once in Positano we will be enchanted by the little streets full of shops which make the Positano style famous all over the world.
A fishermen town of steps and arched passageways, Positano is a vertical village with countless flowered gardens, spectacular villas and houses which lie down to the beach protected by Saracen watch towers, the remnants of a past dramatic incursions of Saracens and Turks. Reaching the panorama points of Sorrento and from the high cliffs of tufa stone enjoy the Bay of Naples and the Sorrentine Coast.
After a nice lunch by the sea, you will reach Pompeii.
A guided tour of the archeological Area of Pompeii will show you the forgotten city 1700 years after its concealment by the deep layers of lapilli and ashes in the dramatic volcanic eruption of 79 a.d. See the Temple of Apollo, the Forum, the Temple of Hercules, the Theatre and Odeion, the several basilicas, taverns and shops along the Way of Abundance, the Market and also the rich residences with their frescoes and mosaics along with the Roman Baths.
